Clicking Techniques for Competitive Gaming

Different clicking techniques can dramatically improve your CPS in games. Here are the most popular methods used by competitive players.

Jitter Clicking

Jitter clicking involves tensing your arm and hand muscles to produce rapid vibrations that translate into fast clicks. Most players achieve 10-14 CPS with this technique. It can be tiring on the hand, so take breaks to avoid strain.

Butterfly Clicking

Butterfly clicking uses two fingers (usually index and middle) alternating on the mouse button. By rapidly alternating, you can achieve 15-25 CPS. This technique is banned on some Minecraft servers because of the high click rates it produces.

Drag Clicking

Drag clicking involves dragging your finger across the mouse button so that friction causes it to catch and release rapidly. This can produce extremely high CPS (30+) but requires a mouse with a grippy surface and is banned on most competitive servers.

Regular Clicking

Regular clicking is the standard technique most people use — pressing the button with one finger. Typical CPS is 5-8. While slower than advanced techniques, it offers the best accuracy and is universally accepted in all games and servers.
